Promotion Requirements

All belt promotions are at the discretion of the head instructor. Factors such as above average class attendance, natural ability, or competing could possibly shorten promotion requirements, while poor attitude, bad temper, or lack of common morality outside of the academy could lengthen it.


Blue Belt Requirements

You must be at least 16 to obtain a blue belt. On average, it takes between 10 to 14 months of training, while attending approximately 100-120 classes.

Throws and Takedowns

  • 1 leg throw
  • 2 hip throws
  • 1 double leg
  • 1 single leg

Escapes

  • 2 ways to escape mount
  • 2 ways to escape side-control
  • 1 ways to escape rear mount
  • 1 ways to escape knee-on-belly

Passing Guard

  • 2 ways to pass closed guard and get side control
  • 1 ways to pass butterfly guard and get side control
  • 1 ways to pass half guard and get side control
  • 1 ways to pass open guard and get side control

Sweeps from Guard

  • 2 sweeps from open guard
  • 2 sweeps from half guard
  • 2 sweeps from closed guard

Self-Defense

  • 1 way to defend the guillotine standing up
  • 1 way to defend the headlock standing
  • 1 way to defend the headlock on the ground

Submissions

  • 3 submissions from mount
  • 1 double attack submission
  • 3 submissions from side control
  • 2 submissions from the back
  • 2 submissions from knee-on-belly
  • 3 submissions from guard

Purple Belt Requirements

On average, it takes 3 years of training, while attending a minimum of 360 classes.
